Harvestfield by Lorna Effler

Luke 10:2 -Artist interpretation: Fields of green as far as the eye can see emphasize a narrow path of beautiful lilies, visually leading us to the mountains. Gazing upward, the clouds indicate this day is soon to end...Lilies shaped as trumpets, sound praise to the Lord. As we follow the path we notice the lilies are transformed into people. Washed by the blood of the Lamb these people are clothed in robes of white, signifying they are the righteousness of God. People have their arms raised in praise and worship, they are praying, preaching, teaching: proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to the world. The path of the righteous leads to the majestic purple mountains, symbolic of God all-powerful! The path is narrow for many will choose not to follow...yet others are hungry for God. The "spiritual" harvest is ready---though the workers are few. Every believer is called to this mission of proclamation. So let us not grow weary but endure, and pray for more laborers. For God does not desire that any should perish, but that all would repent and spend forever with Him...spread the Good News! Christ Child By Lorna Effler

Isaiah 11:1-7 Artist interpretation: Jesus the Christ child is Jesus the Great Deliverer, the Anointed One, the Saviour of men. "BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL," which translated means, "GOD WITH US." (Matthew 1:23)
The Virgin Mary has given birth to Jesus. Mary, a humble common girl, is portrayed in the color of heavenly love--blue, which also suggests unveiling of truth. Pondering with love and amazement in her heart she carefully holds her child. God's word has been manifested, not only as the angel Gabriel had told her, but as prophesied through the ages since the Garden of Eden. The child is divine, peacefully sleeping with glory about his head. Captured in this surreal monument is revelation of the Christ child. As if etched into their surfaces, the wood and rocks proclaim who he is: Holy One, Wonderful, Jesus, Christ, Lord, Saviour, Messiah, King, Branch, Immanuel and Word. Deeper into the rock area images begin to immerge: Lion of Judah, Lamb of God, angels-- kneeling, rejoicing, standing in awe. Born among the lowly, a Saviour for all mankind. He came because everyone is precious in His sight. The soft light casts a shadow of the cross--foretelling of his crucifixion for our sins. Based on Scripture, when the branch (Christ) from the root of Jesse comes forth, the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the young cow and bear will rest together: this day prophecy is fulfilled!
Leaning toward the child the Holy Spirit is present, as the dove. The owl, representing Satan, lurks and hides in the shadows glaring at the child. Much to his surprise, the Word has become flesh. In the back a peacock is observing: symbolic of immortality, eternal life--now available through Christ Jesus. Above the peacock we see symbolic letters that "say it all": Alpha and Omega. HE is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
Hallelujah our promised Saviour has come!

THE LAST SUPPER By Lorna Effler

Luke 22: 1-38 Artist Interpretation: In New Testament times Passover was a pilgrim festival. Large numbers of people gathered in Jerusalem to observe this celebration. As written in scripture, the time of Passover had come. Jesus sent His disciples ahead to pursue a man carrying a water jug, who would lead them to an "upper room" prepared for them. Here we see Jesus and His Twelve Disciples celebrating Passover. This painting, more then any other of my paintings, has great symbolism. You can read the entire interpretation for this work at http://www.revelationart.org/Gallery5.html.

PURE SWEET LOVE By Lorna Effler

John 16: 5-15 Artist Interpretation: The blood-stained cross, symbolic of Jesus' crucifixion, is held together by spikes...spikes were used to nail Jesus to the cross. The dove, as used in scripture, is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. It is written, when Jesus ascends to be with God the Father, THEN the Holy Spirit will come to us. Here, we see the dove---the Holy Spirit, waiting to fulfill Gods plan. As Jesus' ascension nears, like a time-line the dove edges closer to the center of the cross--to the center of Gods will. Symbolic of Jesus' ascension is the bare cross and the dove--the Holy Spirit, taking flight--up into the light, the fulfillment of Gods plan. The dark sky represents the dark time of Jesus' life on earth. As the dove ascends into the light, so Jesus ascended into Heaven. Jesus' sacrifice for us was truly one of pure-sweet-love!

THE MUSTARD SEED By Lorna Effler

Luke 13: 18-19 Artist interpretation: As written in scripture, the tiny mustard seed has produced a tree, where the birds of the air can come and take rest. We are able to see the small beginning of this tree--below in the fertile ground is the tiny mustard seed. All the birds taking rest are birds of the Bible. Sacrificial birds are the sparrow, swallow, pigeon, and the two turtledoves which Mary sacrificed to God after giving birth to Jesus. The white dove is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. Quail, representing the quail God sent to the Israelites as they wandered in the wilderness with Moses--headed to the promised land, and the raven, symbolic of the raven God sent to feed Elijah as he sat under the Juniper tree. Notice the birds among the bottom branches represent Old Testament, the birds among the upper branches New Testament. This placement refers to the fact: the Old Testament came first, birthing the New Testament. The Old Testament foretells of Christ, New Testament fulfills this--Christ is born resulting in a new covenant. The mustard tree is in bloom, its branches intertwined form a cross, with the white dove--the Holy Spirit, at its center. This tree is watered by "living water"!

Lost Sheep Found By Lorna Effler

Luke 15:4 -Artist interpretation: In a beautiful, green, deep forest is a lost sheep. The sheep is totally unaware that it is lost from the rest of the flock and the shepherd. The shepherd, Christ, is very aware that the sheep has gone astray, and Christ has left the flock to go after his lost one. With gentleness and forgiveness radiating from his face, the shepherd has his eye on him and the lost sheep is found!
